John Woolman
John Woolman was an 18th century Quaker traveling minister active in the struggle against slavery and for fair treatment of workers. He had a prophetic understanding of the many ways that an overconsumption lifestyle is inextricably connected to war, slaveholding, abuse of workers, and destruction of the environment. He lived in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Paulette Meier created a round ("The Seeds of War") from one of his best-known quotations taken from his book, A Plea for the Poor.
